Hardware Setup #

  • Before commencing set up, determine the play area for the Virtual Reality experience. In order to have the best experience using Tradieforce Console, we recommend an area of 2.5m x 2.5m, although a smaller area can be utilized. Ensure the play space is clear of any user hazards.
  • If you are using an external screen, place the hard case within 3m of the screen.
  • Unclip the 4 latches on the case lid and open the case ensuring the lid is fully open.
  • Remove the power brick and cable (4) and place it on a flat surface next to the case.
  • Plug the power brick’s cable into a power outlet (worldwide power compatible).
  • Switch the power outlet on, the two cooling fans (7) should activate.
  • Plug in a HDMI cable into the front HDMI port of the computer (3) and into the TV.
  • Turn the computer on by pressing the power button.
  • The computer will boot into the Windows 10 desktop. (If the computer led lights are on but nothing is displayed on the screen ensure that the HDMI cable is completely plugged into the computer and the screen, and that the screen is set to the correct input.)

Logitech Keyboard Setup #

  • To use the keyboard, slide it out of the hard case and switch it on as shown below. Please ensure that the keyboard is switched off when packed away.

Setting up Your Oculus Account #

When you first receive your unit, you will need to create an Oculus account to support the hardware and receive firmware updates.

To make an Oculus account:

  • Click the Oculus software icon  on your taskbar or on the desktop.
  • If you can’t find it, press the Windows key  then type Oculus.
  • In the rare scenario that the Oculus software is not installed you will need to download the software from https://www.oculus.com/setup/ (select the software for the Oculus Rift S).
  • Once the Oculus app is open you will be greeted with a login screen. Either login or create an account by following the instructions on the screen.
  • Once you have logged in you may need to perform an update for the software or headset. The app will let you know if this is required and should not take more than a few minutes (Please run any update).
  • Oculus may also run you through a compulsory introductory video explaining how to perform certain functions in the VR environment.
  • The Oculus software will guide you through setting up the Guardian Boundaries, similar to the image below. This is to ensure you do not collide with any object beyond the boundary of your workspace while using Tradieforce Console.
  • Note: When setting up the Guardian Boundaries with the Controller, squeeze the trigger to mark the boundary, and when requested, tap the side of the Controller flat on the floor to set the floor plane.
  • If you have any issues, please visit https://support.oculus.com/guardian/, If you still experience issues, please contact us at support@tradieforce.com.
  • Once all Oculus setup is complete, you’re ready to launch Tradieforce Console.

Oculus Rift S VR Headset Setup #

  • Lift the VR headset (2) out of the hard case vertically by the plastic forehead band.
  • Completely uncoil the VR headset cable and remove any tangles if present. (This is very important for the longevity of your system.)
  • Set the headset aside in a safe place next to the Hard Case.
  • Once Oculus is running plug in the VR Headset’s USB cable, wait 5 seconds, plug in the Headset’s DisplayPort cable.
